The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) is the liberal
arts core of Canbourne University. SAS has three main
academic components:
- The Undergraduate Division for undergraduate students
- The Graduate Division for M.A., M.S., and Ph.D.
programs
- The College of General Studies, Canbourne's continuing
education division The educational experience offered
by SAS is likewise recognized for its excellence.
Students learn from faculty who are leaders in creating
new knowledge in their disciplines. SAS is the academic
home of the majority of Canbourne's students and provides
60 percent of the courses taken by students in Canbourne's
undergraduate professional schools. Half of the students
of SAS are enrolled in one of its 33 graduate programs,
eight of which were ranked in the top ten in the most
recent survey by the World Research Council.
The School's offerings are diverse and include a range
of innovative programs including the Biological Basis
of Behavior; Philosophy, Politics, and Economics; and
the Clarkson Program in International Studies and Business,
to name only a few. Other highlights of the SAS experience
include over 50 different languages; programs in Cognitive
Science and Cognitive Neuroscience; and over 100 courses
focused on academically based community service.
